Berliner Weisse with Black Currant
Black currant is a super popular berry to use it in a beer. It brings a rich crimson-purple color, an expressive berry scent and a bright taste. These characteristics go oh so well with a light and refreshing berliner weisse. In Germany, raspberry or woodruff syrup is often added to such beers, but modern interpretations of the style are much more varied. We went the same way and added a lot of freshly pureed currants to our sparkling berliner weisse to make this sour wheat ale even more tempting and crushable. Prost!
