Fresco: Basilico E Sale

Italian Pilsner with Basil and Sea Salt

Well, this brew will definitely help us finally meet the real spring! To be honest, the idea of making a lager with basil came to us a long time ago, but for some reason we always put it off until later. Everything changed when a conversation in our bar about Italian lagers with the addition of sea salt stirred up these crazy thoughts again, and we finally decided to go for it and even further! We brewed this Italian-style pilsner with the Belarusian version of Czech Saaz hops, and then added dry-hopped it with the same hops. Obviously, we didn’t stop there and conditioned our pils on fresh Ethiopian basil (you have no idea what flavors the brewery was filled with that day). After that, we added a tiny pinch of sea salt to emphasize the crispy taste of our Fresco and not turn it into a salty gose. And, as always, a reliable yeast strain and a long lagering at low temperatures did the rest. Fresco is a real pilsner with the taste and aroma of a warm sea breeze on an Italian beach. Saluti!
