Our interest in refreshing, restrained and complex European lagers is getting stronger and stronger, so this time we set foot on the unfamiliar path of Czech pale lagers. Unlike the last varieties of our German-style pilsners, for this one we used exclusively imported ingredients – European malt, Czech hops of the country’s most popular Saaz variety (or, as the Czechs themselves call it, žatecký poloraný červeňák). Already usual for us, long lagering at low temperatures, fragrant Czech hops with notes of meadow flowers and aromatic spices, a malt base of golden-copper color with the aroma of freshly baked bread together created the same rich taste of Bohemian lager, which we so often perceive as a benchmark for bottom-fermented beers.
